A Balanced Approach to We all want a high quality of life. It's no secret that Calaveras County is being hurt by the latest economic crisis. The good news is we don’t have to choose between the open and rural lifestyle we all love, and a growing, sustainable economy. Please read my 10 step plan to revitalize Calaveras' rural economy. We know that County government can take a leading role in helping to plan and develop local businesses that help our environment and create good jobs. We should be doing more, we can do more, and I will work to make County government a positive force in the sustainable development of our economy. Economic development happens where people are safe, and where they can pursue their dreams, whatever they are, in a clean and healthy environment. Economic development happens when there are good roads, good schools, good water and sanitation systems, and modern telecommunications. Our communities will grow in the years ahead. But they should grow according to updated and integrated community plans. Calaveras County should have no higher priority than the updating of our diverse Community Plans and the County General plan in accord with the vision and priorities expressed through broad-based public participation.
