Recreation - Part 2

The fishing buddies continued with the Glory Hole Fishing Seminar for the second day.  Day 2 features fishing sessions on New Melones with volunteer guides.  The guides take you out for 2 hours in their boats to demonstrate one particular type of fishing.  I had signed up for bass fishing in the first round and then down-rigger fishing in the second round.  I am happy to say that I caught fish in both rounds -- catch and release for the bass, catch and eat for the trout (Marilyn's favorite fish).  The guides shared their knowledge, skills and equipment in finding and catching fish.  The whole event is to help people become better fishers while learning proper respect for the natural resources and the man-made tools we use to fish.  We talked a lot about how fishing has changed since we were kids.  Now we have GPS, sonar, and power-everything, a long way from the cane pole and bobber that I started with.  Nevertheless, the pleasure of being outdoors with responsible sportsmen and women is the same.  And even with all that technology, the fish still seem to be the smart ones.
