Collaboration

Today's title is a big word for "working together".  Yesterday and today I participated in a couple of different ways to collaborate -- one of them is to work in a committee.  Our City committees give both the public and city personnel a space in which to toss out ideas and discuss alternatives without the finality of Council action and without stressing Robert's Rules of Order.  Another collaborative format is the workshop.  In Angels, we use workshops for a lot of topics.  Our workshops usually feature an outside expert who guides the discussion of the chosen topic.  Today, it was Amy Wetzel who presented an approach to matching residents' needs to available retailers.  I was encourage by today's public participation at each forum.

Collaboration requires a meeting to craft good public solutions.  Whether the meeting is large or small; listening to the people and discussing community options creates the foundation for effective action.   As a Supervisor, I would organize and participate in regular District meetings where our citizens could collaborate.  To share your thoughts,  "Write Lee".
