Archaeological Digging

You have probably heard about the archaeological findings unearthed by the Highway 4 by-pass construction.  As the site is inside the City limits, I wanted to get a tour of the site along with some of the folks from the city museum.  That was suppose to happen yesterday, but the schedule just never worked out.  So it's still in planning.

The discovery of the site shows us how one change may reveal to us some of our past.  Building the by-pass will be disruptive for a time and forever change the landscape east of the City.  I voted against the current design of the by-pass because it's too massive and doesn't connect to key local roads, such as Murphys Grade.  I wanted a less-vertical design which would have been much less expensive.

I hope that the Museum gets to exhibit some of the artifacts found by the archaeologists.  It would be a good reminder to all of us to respect those who lived here before us and relative to the archaeological record, we are all newcomers.
