Local Resources on Display

The Home and Garden show was a real treat on Saturday.  Two things stood out to me.  The first was the presentations on how to save money by greening our homes and lifestyles.  The second was the number of local businesses that are ready to work on green building projects.  It is very encouraging to find these resources locally.  Put the two things together and they form a practical first step in revitalizing our economy.

Government can help support these steps.  At the national level, Congress could extend the investment credits for business and residential solar power projects.  The State could provide more flexibility in regulations.   County government could incorporate more building code options for green buildings, and build green public buildings itself.

Real progress will ultimately rely on how we as individuals and businesses adopt these new technologies and products.  Like every meaningful change, it's up to the people.

I would like to hear about your greening.  What investments or changes are you making to deal with the rising cost of energy?  Click on Write Lee.
