Re-opening The citizens of Calaveras County want honest, fair and efficient government. The Board of Supervisors has fiscal and managerial responsibilities for county administration, including the departments of community development, public works, public health and many others. In many ways the County's planning functions are the starting point for open government. The County's General Plan will express our master design, while our Community Plans are the blueprints for each town. Therefore, openness in the planning process is critical to our overall quality of life. County government impacts our daily lives in many areas. Much of our basic infrastructure is operated and maintained by public employees. The Board of Supervisors is responsible to oversee the execution of the public trust. The operation of each county department is expected to be lawful, accountable and transparent. However, the public does not give up its right to public information, to due process, or impartial recourse. Public participation is a fundamental right and should be welcomed in every public office and meeting. Simply put, open government must exist before, during and after government action.
"I'm running for Supervisor because changing times require a change in leadership." -- Lee Seaton
