Open Planning Process Our communities will grow in the years ahead. But they should grow according to updated and integrated community plans. The critical issues facing our communities are related to each other; it is only by taking a balanced approach that we can make lasting progress. Calaveras County should have no higher priority than the updating of our diverse Community Plans and the County General plan in accord with the vision and priorities expressed through broad-based public participation. Effective planning not only requires openness, but it also demands faithful administration. The evidence now suggests that the County's department in charge of enforcing the building codes systematically catered to special interests through selective enforcement, improper sign-offs, and deceit. The people of Calaveras County expect and deserve better service from their public officials.
