Prepared to Serve By his education and years of public service, Lee is prepared to perform the duties of District 4 Supervisor immediately. He already knows the key participants at all levels of government. And he already has the demonstrated ability to integrate the levels of government into effective partners. Counties, like cities, do not exist in a geographical or political vacuum. From special districts to the District of Columbia, all forms of government are increasingly inter-dependent. Because the City of Angels is the only incorporated city in Calaveras County, each council member serves on several different inter-government bodies. Lee has served on and chaired the Calaveras Local Agency Formation Commission (LAFCO). This agency conducts service reviews of each type of special district in the County. It also approves annexations and boundary changes. The Calaveras Council of Governments (CCOG) plays a central role in transportation planning for the entire county. It works closely with city, council and state highway and transit officials to support safe and effective transportation options for all residents. Lee has served on CCOG since 2002. The Central Sierra Resource Conservation and Development Council (CSRCD) is a regional grassroots not-for-profit organization serving the people of Amador, Calaveras, Alpine, Mono, and Tuolumne counties. While Chair, Lee lead the transition of the Council to not-for-profit status in order to preserve annual United State Department of Agricultural funding (as required by the Farm Bill). |
